Hello. Can anyone here tell me how I can find out the new HOS logging rules..maybe free? I have taken on a day-job driving a 18-wheeler, 8 hours a day during the week and home everynight. Problem is that I'm not very good with paper logs! ( I was using "electronic" logs at last job for months and didn't have to worry about this;). I have a hard time remembering how you add up your hours taking into account that I will be taking multiple breaks (3x)a day. I understand that HOS rules have changed "twice" since I went to school? I want to make sure that I know what I'm doing when adding up the end of the day hours HOS rules. I will be required to work OT and could end up getting 60+ hrs. a week. Any advice? I start Monday 17th could use an answer ASAP, Please

You can drive 11 hours a day and work an additional 3 for a total of 14 hours on duty and driving. This is to be followed with 10 hours off duty or sleeper. You can't break up your driving time with "off duty" or "sleeper berth" like you used to.
If you are off for 34 hours (weekend), you get your 70 hours back. You start over.
Don't do like one my ex-students and log sleeper while driving a day cab.

Depending on the distances or on the state, you may not have to log at all. You may be allowed to run a 12 hour exempt log like we do here in Oklahoma. The logging really isn't that tough as long as you link it to your behind! When your behind hits the seat, update the log, right before your butt leaves the seat, update the logs. See...simple! LOL

Don't do like some people and leave your logbook for weekends off!
