the biggest thing you'll need is a work visa...
oh, and we drive on the other side of the road ;D

You should have no problems at all. I have a friend that is Welsh and he drove for years. Check with your local trucking school and they will know what to expect, even if you are just using them for info.
BTW, I miss the BSA 441 Victor motorcycle. That was a monster!

thanks for the info and watch you don't cut yourself on that sharp tongue hmm, i wasn't trying to be snide. i apologize if my comment came off that way. but the work visa issue will be your biggest obstacle in all seriousness. once have you that, i can't see why you would have any trouble driving here in the US. i understand our trucks are of a lower technical spec than you are familiar with, the transmissions here do not utilize syncromesh (ie, they are "crash" boxes), and some of our regulations are of course different. they're still big trucks though, and most of your experience will stand you in good stead.

When my Welsh buddy started driving in the USA, truckers would put a backwards peace sign in the windshild to warn oncoming truckers that there was a cop behind them...Apparently, in the UK that sign means something else because Will got mad and was giving it right back to them like they had just flipped him off.
I explained to him that they were trying to help keep him out of trouble. He was thinking all American truckers were hating on him. LOL!

Truckertom,
I don't understand. Doesn't a backwards peace sign looks the same as a forward sign? Do you mean upside down? Or, am I hopelessly lost? ;D

Make a peace sign, turn it around and put the back of your hand on the winshield. Before CB radios, this was how truckers signaled there was a cop behind them to oncoming truckers.
In the UK it is the same as flipping someone off. So if you take a man from the UK and put him in the seat of a 1962 Autocar on route 66, he might get the wrong idea of what people are communicating to him.
