Did you go to school to get a CDL? If so, you may need to call your school and check with them. Otherwise, you may need to call your local school to find out the price.

I'm taking an 80 hr refresher course through an Adult Vocational School. It is a $1000.00 that includes the Medical Physical, drug sceening and the uses of their vehicle for the CDL skill testing.
They also have a 5 week 200 hour course for $3000.00 or 12 weekend classes for the same price.
I'm located in Southeastern Ohio. Gasel Transportion is the carrier that put on the CDL training for the School.
They have 3 difference school locations in the State of Ohio, Marietta, Nelsonville and Beaverdam.
I hope this is helpful

If you can take a refresher course for $1000 you might want to jump on that. Ace Training Center in Jackson, Ms. wants me to pay $2000. Anybody know of another school in Ms? I have 6 years previous OTR and got out of it back in 96. I think the refresher course is just a way of lightening your wallet, but big brother is the cause of it. I can understand needing truck driving schools for training people that have never been around trucks before, but there are a lot of us that grew up on farms and were driving trucks long before the schools came along.

Y'know, I did something else for a few years and when I decided to get back into it, about all I had to do is to take a little driving test and off I went. But that has been a long time ago and it was a small company I was driving for (Tenco Transportation).
I wonder if the Trucking industry has found a way to cause the driver turn over it says that it hates. Along with DAC (USIS (Or usless if you ask me)) and all the truckers that seem to be leaving the industry, I sometimes wonder it the turnover in drivers is just a way to keep drivers wages down along with keeping drivers from learning to stick together....ya can't stick together with people that are coming into the industry as fast as DAC is booting them out.

It seems to me that the Insurance companies are now running the trucking industry. I have recently got out of the Instructing business, (for the time being), and had a heck of a time finding a trucking job. The insurance companies are dictating policy to the trucking companies as far as how much time behind the wheel you need to get hired by such-and-such company. Most of what I got was, "You need 1 year varifiable over the road experience within the last 3 years." I was also informed I needed to take a refresher course! Call it pride or whatever, but I can't see paying a school or anybody else for me to take a refresher when I've been teaching that same thing for years. I asked all the recruiters that called why and every one of them told me that was due to insurance requirements. I finally found a VERY small company literally in my back yard. I'm talking a 4 truck fleet! Now that's small! To top it off I'm making more money than my wife who is an RN. Not bad for a college drop out!

"I've been teaching that same thing for years."
I have had the same reaction from employers, they wont hire me because I have been teaching safety for years......makes alot of sense, doesn't it? I usually just walk off laughing! They want 1 year OTR in the last 3, but will hire the students from "Uncle Oscar's Psychadelic Truck Driving Academy" where the instructors are there because the can't pass a drugscreen.
Trucking cheats itself out of good drivers. But I am like you, I don't want to work for a huge company that has the number on the back of the trailer so that people can listen to a driver recruiter lie to them over the phone for an hour.
