Two years ago my wife and I started making plans to go OTR. Neither of us have a CDL although I had a commercial liscense for 18yrs and didnt renew in1994. I currently drive a straight truck that is just under CDL. My wife has also driven it in the last few years. My question is we want to run out of Dallas Texas. Preferably out 12 days and in 2. We have looked at Big Trucks, Straight Truck Expiditers, and 1 ton Hot shots. What do you guys think would be the best way to get started, and be able to get back to Dallas every two weeks? Thanks for your input.

The trouble here is the OTR experience you both lack. It is nothing you can't aquire, but it is something that most companies expect. I could recommend Sunbelt Express if you both had some OTR, they run between Texas and California and they are based in Dallas Tx.
You may have to get your CDLs and hook up with somone like Roehl, Central Reefer. I know Roehl has a 7 day on, 7 day off thing, but don't know about the team factor. Fort Worth Carriers (Dillards) is also another close one that seems to be good for families. I have trained a few drivers that have gone to work there. They do hire some entry level drivers, but don't know about the driving school deploma requirement.
Keep me posted.
