Have been offered the opportunity to train and work for them. Would like to know what there is to know; good or bad. Thanks in advance. Go safely; see you on the big road!

Hi, I cant answer your question because I need the very same information.. I have an offer as well, I'm taking my time before I sign and commit to anything until I can find some feedback about them.
So if you should get any info I'd if you could pass on I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll do the same if I should run into anything as such...

jersey79; from dle; according to their site they are in Decatur, Gardendale, Ft. Worth, North Little Rock, St. Louis and Strafford. www.c-1truckdrivertraining.com/ Buddy of mine went to the one in North Little Rock - he seems to have liked it and was impressed enough with them to recommend them to me. from midnight473; dtrain: I can't give you any input on the school or the companies, however, I have been in contact with a recruiter through Driver Solutions and did get some information. www.otrdrivers.com I was told that USA Truck trains in Indianapolis, not St. Louis and I was told that P.A.M. Transport trains in St. Louis, but not Indianapolis. I know your post mentions Star and not P.A.M., but my recruiter told me to ignore them because I wasn't in the hiring area for them. I was told (keep in mind we're talking about from a recruiter that is trying to get my business and he may or may not be truthful) that USA and PAM are pretty much the same. USA pays more and PAM offers a $1000 sign on bonus for new drivers. I personally am not real hip on either company, but it's all I have to go with, I am not having luck taking the more traditional channels with no experience and no CDL. I have friends and family in the St. Louis area and they said they see P.A.M. trucks all the time on the highways out there and not many USA truck. For what it's worth, don't know if it helps any or not. By the way, I am supposed to report to St. Louis on Monday for school. Good luck with your endeavors! -Midnight This is information I have gotten so far from subscribers on another trucker forum. I am getting as much info on them as I can before I sign on teh dotted line. If you go with c1 training; which company are you intending on hiring on with? I will be going to USA Truck and training at the Indianapolis, Ind. campus. Star Transport is out of my hiring area and USA Truck trains only at the Indianapolis campus from what I have heard. Go safely; see you on the big road!

dtrain - Thanks for the info, I had no idea that certain companys wanted you to train at different locations threw c-1 training. I have family in the fort worth-dallas area. I want to go with star so i'm hoping I can go there to train. Thats the thing I'm not to sure about, going all the way out there to train, it would be nice if they had a school a wee bit closer east. I have no experience and nor the money for the private schools so this is looing to be my only option.
CR England offers tuition training which is up in Burlington County, NJ. However at this time i'm not hearing positive things about them. Who knows, I'm still pretty torn on where I want to go and train. If I find anything else out I'll be sure to pass it along...
-Thanks Again

Unfortunately, some carriers, like CRST want you to train at the Strafford, MO. school. That is what i had to do once i got hired on with them. The instructors at that school were very patient and did everything in there power to train newcomers how to drive a big rig.

Poking around a few other forums I was able to learn what I have kearned so far about USA Truckl; Star Transport; PAM; C1 training; etc. Now you say you want to go with Star. Where do you live; is Star in your hiring area? I am looking at USA Truck because Star doesn't hire from my area of Pennsylvania. Even though we may see certain companies trucks going past the house and may want to hire on with them; they may not be hiring out of the area. I think a lot has to do with getting the drivers home in relation to miles from a terminal. Don't quote me on that. As far a training locations; many company schools are in the midwest or the south. Of the companies I have put on my list to go with; the schools are in Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucjky, Indiana, Missouri, and one here in Pennsylvania. I will have to travel to go the company of choice school. I am resgined to this because I'll be going otr anyway; once I get hired. THis is something we have to get used to. As far as CR England; run; don't walk; away from them. All I have read about them has been bad. Stay the course and you will be in the saddle soon enough. Go safely; see you on the big road!

The team part did not appeal to me. I was informed by the recruiter that it was only six months and I figured I could deal with that. Then I heard other information about a year to two years and that did not agree with me. I don't want to run teams except for training. There is nothing against the company; its just me. I am hoping that USA Truck does train at the Louisville, Ky campus. When I talk to my recruiter I will find this out. Go safely; see you on the big road!
