Greetings Everyone,
Ok, I am starting school/training with Stevens on Monday. I have seen a little info, some good, some bad. What I ask now is give it to me with with both barrels. Am I in a good situation or bad? Is schooling and training enough?(3 wks schooling, 5 wks with trainer, 3 wks with another student).I am a 41yo man with a reasonable amount of intelligence and sense.I know it wont be easy........I am going into it with an open mind and a desire to learn.I know Stevens is a reefer outfit, and grocery warehouses are a possibility.(some one has to do it.)
I wanna hear the good and the bad,( the recruiter paints a pretty picture).LOL.So, any current or Former Stevens drivers......all input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Skip
P.S. See ya'all on the road.

Stevens runs good trucks, Kenworths T-2000 hi rise condo's. I think 10 speed autoshifts? Refer outfits try to keep you out 3 weeks or so at a time.BUT you don't get paid for sitting at home.Stay A Company Driver!!! NEVER Lease, You'll be broke. Keep an open mind, and enjoy yourself.Never mind what others say. Give It Hell. Skull

Thanks Skull, I got my CDL yesterday(8/17), Now on to Phase 2. I appreciate your input and advice. Many people have told me not to lease.....I will take your advice.......So far so good, I have had an intresting experience.
At one time Stevens had 6 autoshifts in thieir fleet, but due to fuel mileage issues, they got rid of them.Again I thank you and everyone out there.I will see you all down the road.

Hello!
I, too, am considering Stevens Transport. My decision is based mainly on the fact that they will pay for my CDL training and I can go to school here in Houston.
I would like to hear anything at all about this company, both good AND bad, but please explain your answers. If you think they suck, that's OK, but tell me why they suck (too few miles, not enough home time, etc.).
I have no interest in becoming an O/O, I just want to be a company driver.
Thanks in advance for your responses!

Guys, skull is right, just avoid the lease.
Any trucking company that can get you a years experience is a good one, but being flexable with a company is where it is at. You may have to bend a little from time to time to keep them happy. I hope you get a good road instructor once you get through school. Good road instructors seem to be rare from what I hear.
