RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!
Seriously, when truckers are making lists of companies that drivers should avoid at all costs, Prime and C. R. England ALWAYS make the list. Avoid them at all costs.

Add Florilli to that list. Not as big, but big enough to ruin a driving career.

Anytime a company puts a blackmark on my DAC record after I was lied to over the phone about how they handle toll roads, washouts, lumper fees.......and told by them there would be no hard feeling should I decide to back out of the deal. That company is playing dirty with a drivers future.
When they told me that the company paid all tolls, that means quick pass right? No, they mean the company expects a driver to pay all tolls out of thier own pocket and the company will pay you back later. I would bet that every driver that went through orientation with me is no longer driving for them, and I bet they all have a black mark on thier DAC report.
I never set foot on Florilli property and yet they have put a "no rehire" on my DAC report. I have never driven a mile for them. I can't help it if I have been trucking for so long that I can spot a liar quicker than most.
But hey, you have to make your own decisions! Hell, they don't even give thier new drivers a driving test!

"i guess that maybe i should ask if there are any companies that anyone would recommend applying to as a newbie driver?"
Don't get me wrong, I know there are still good companies to start out with. But I will say this: Any company that you can stay with long enough to get experience with is a good one to start with. Any experience combined with a clean driving record makes you very hireable. If an outlaw company is going to sink your driving record by expecting you to do illegal things, then what good are they in the long run?
But I have had ex-students hate the companies they first went to work for, while others ex-studnets rave about the same carrier and vow to never leave them. So go figure. I think attitude goes a long, long way toward success in trucking. Evey dispatchers loves a driver they never have to worry about.

True, but as a new driver you also need to understand that you can't twist off the first time someone looks at you cross-eyed. The thin skinned drivers just don't last very long.

Talk about smiles, I was breaking in with a new company and had to do a trip or two with one of their trainers. This one watched me drive out of Dallas headed for the west coast, he fell asleep in the bunk and when I woke him up in El Paso I thought he was going to kiss me. He said it was the first nap he had in a month, he usually had to keep one eye open and watch the new driver.
He offered to team with me but I didn't do it. I should have done it I guess.
