The best way to find out? Call the trucking company(s) that you want to / plan on working for and see if THEY will acept this schools training as sufficent.
Start asking questions on the company level...stay away from the trucking SCHOOL recruiters until you can make an informed choice!!!
Good Luck.

And tell the companys you want to drive for what your driving and criminal record is like. Some schools will take your money and train you knowing no decent trucking company would touch you with a ten foot pole ;D

Another key thing to look for in a truck driving school is if they ask you about felonies, past traffic tickets and work history. If they say somthing like "Just show up and we will deal with that later" it is a CDL mill. We do have students that lie to us up front but we find out about their past soon enough... usually when the sargent at the DPS hauls them into the back.
Yes, I hate to burst everyones bubble, but students also lie to the schools they plan to attend. So after our school has bought a bus ticket, lodging for a week and meals, they get arrested like the one we had this week: It seems he was wanted. When our recruiter asked him about his past, this guy claimed to be a virgin...He lied!
I had a student this week lie to me. He said that he had only General Knowledge left to pass. But when I asked the DPS clerk, I found out that the student had only passed the Pre-Trip...after a week of telling me he was studying. You can't drag your highschool work ethic into driving school. You aren't going to get away faking/bluffing your way through tests, and you can't fake your way through driving an 18 wheeler. It turns out all of these "students" have been watching college basketball all week. My student is a liar...no ifs ands or buts. And as the lead instructor at our school, I have to deal with these liars every dammed week! They whine to me when we can't find them a job....after not being level with us from the start! They get the cold shoulder from every company that hires our drivers.....It is their own dammed fault. Had they been honest with us up front, we would never have signed them up.
Out of 100 phone calls, we might secure 5 students....if we are having a good week!
So do they want to drive, or watch basketball? Do they want to drive or play strip poker at the motel? Do they want to drive or drink beer? (And yes there is a limit to what a school can do as far as discipline...it is not a prison camp after all) But these students will be the first ones to gripe when they can't keep a driving job. So students are going to get out of a driving school exactly what they put into it.
Most CDL mills will take students crippled, blind or crazy...it doesn't matter to them as long as they can get a co-signer that will get the loan through and the school loan paid off they don't care if you have a job two months down the road.
But how do you pay your loan off with no driving job?
Well, I had my weekly vent. I feel better.
