Greetings I have been investigating the possibility of driving a truck for a living. Is anybody out there from central Arkansas? I have so many ?'s. But I don't know anybody to talk to to find out if this is for me. I'm particularly concerned about the training process. Does anybody have any experince with TDI in Mulberry, Arkansas? Also, what clues are there to indicate wether or not a school is a "CDL Mill"
Peace,
Greybeard

Greybeard, Check out Rachelle's book, Driver's ABC's. You'll get a good picture of what working in the trucking business is all about by the time you finished her book. It's well worth the price. Other than that, I recommend that you look for trucking companies in your area and visit their sites. Talk to drivers. I know just how you feel. I'm a driver student now. By the time I finish school, I will be approaching 55 years old and embarking on a new career.

I'm from just south of Hot Springs (Bismarck) and just finished school.
The three schools that I looked hardest at were ASU in Newport, Sage @ midsouth community college in West Memphis & Timberland Tech in Fordyce.
I ended upgoing to Timberland in Fordyce mainly due to cost (housing is included in the tuition price) and the company I decided to start with (American Eagle) was willing to pay for them in exchange for a one year commitment.
As far as whether driving is for you, just research it as much as you can, decide why you are considering it and then only you can make the decision either way.
And YES, GET RACHELLS BOOK.
Good luck.
