well, school is over and here i am in phoenix with my shiny new CDL and an impressively nice volvo vn610 to which i have been assigned. the watkins and shepard school was awesome, and i learned a whole bunch about almost everything. to any that are considering driving as a job/career, it is certainly worth investigating. doing the job has been rather harder than going to school (imagine that). snow, ice, fog, whiteouts, chains, oh my. i must have been asleep during the route planning lecture, because i got lost in downtown LA without a backup plan. man, did that SUCK. i wanted my mommy to come save me (seriously). i won't make that mistake again. i load at 7 am, and i'm tired, so i'll hopefully write more about my experiences later. good night

Sounds like you're doing good there, dhagood!
The school I'm attending requires us to do quite a bit of route planning and logbook exercises. I can see already how important it will be to have a good handle on the planning stage of the job. It's bound to make life a little easier in the long run.
When you get the chance, come back and share your stories!

Think of it this way: This is actually a good time to be training. You learn to drive in the winter and the other three seasons will seem simple. Congrats on your new job!
