hey all
im considering going to a local school here in la. Diesel Driving Academy Inc. the program lasts 4 weeks. However there are other "smaller" private driving schools that are around here not so much advertised. im not really sure if i should just go with the bigger more reputable or save some money with a smaller licensed company. any advice?

My advice is to search for a job first. Check out all the carriers and find out which suit your needs best. Then contact them and be sure that the school you are looking at meets their requirements.

Just because the school is big does not mean they are the best! Many big schools are considered a "CDL mill" by many.
Ask the questions listed in the other post, and what ever you do, don't let them rush you. If you are on a phone with a school recruiter and they start badgering you into making a commitment......RUN!
Their job is to answer your questions, you are the customer and you have that right. Also, find out what companies hire their students, and call that company and ask them how well they train. You may get another story than the school gives you.

It aint goin too good man. I'm trying to get into truckin, but I got a slight problem-I caught a weed charge in 93 and I'm havin problems finding someone to hire me. I know FOR SURE due to regs I cant even get a hazmat endorsement. So I'm kinda lookin for a smaller outfit that might hire me. Let me know if you know of anyone. I appreciate it. LSU vs Georgia on Sat HOLD DAT TIGA!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO LSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm gonna find a way to get outta this office if its the last thing I do!!!!! BY the way, how much does DDAI cost? I was told I could get it paid for by vocational rehab about four years ago, but then I gave up when I heard how hard it was for me to get a job......

DDAI is $4900 if you dont use their loan system. If you do use theirs its $4000. Thats with all endorsements. they have day and nite classes. day lasts 4 weeks, nite lasts 8 weeks. (day 8 hours, nite 4 hours each class)

Yeah, its right off I20 on the westbound side. They use the state fair grounds to practive maneuvers. They are reputable, but they sure are expensive. I don't get off my job till 6 every day so I guess once I have someting in the bag, I'll hafta quit. Gonna make darn sure all my homework is done and everything is set before I do.
