Why??
This information in referring to their pay rate is off their web site: It's their figures, not mine!
again I ask, WHY!
Their one of the lowest paying companies on the road $0.24 cent a mile! and then figure that your only get paid for part of the the miles you run. about 85% if lucky.
As for the per diem pay, you can take the tax deduct at the end of the year and receive a larger return.
The per diem calculation is to the company benefit not yours, come time to retire you will be short on retirement because they don't deduct social security or pay their share of it. [the company are required to match the same amount that you pay]
You're a lot better off taking the per diem deduction yourself at the end of the year. This year, it's $28.70 per day. [70% of $41.00] and next year it goes up again.
You can do better, or should! It's a job, not a hobby, get paid for your sweat.
If people keep working for these type of low paying companies, they will never rise their pay rate. If they want drivers, they will have to start paying a fair wage.
There are Companies that start out at more then Central's are paying in 5 years.
Add CRETE to your list, their starting at $0.31 per mile.
That $.07 per mile difference, or $3.50 per hour at 50 miles per hour. 10 hours a day 6 days a week = $210.00 a week 60/7 rule or $11920.00 per year. IT Adds up.
Don't be in such a hurry to drive, that you sell yourself short of making a living.
And if you have a family at home that you are trying to support, you won't make it at the bottom pay level. It's tough the first year anyway, why make it harder with the lower pay.
You have to eat on the road plus send money home for the family and if your not there to fix things and do the things, you do at home, you may have to pay someone else to do it.
Been there, done that!
Good luck
