She took the assessment tests yesterday. The woman told her she qualified for the class, gave her a form to fill out for a Pell Grant (to cover gas and food), and told her to take the TABE test and be on her way.

sweeeet. I had to go through about 6 weeks worth of stuff to qualify. Even had to do research on the current job market and write an essay!
I just got tuition though, no money for gas or food... I am just going to have to work Saturdays.

Yeah, she did the research on the job market and wrote the essay too. She answered all the questions on the paper for the research. The woman at CareerLink was estatic. She said she has never had anyone answer all of the questions before. Then she read her essay on "Why I want to go to school." She said she was gonna keep it. It was the best she had ever read. I guess the people they get down here in Alabama just do enough to get by, and it kinda blew em away that Judy put forth some effort into it.

Yeah, I put a lot of effort into it too. I did it overnight and got it back to them the next day too. They gave me this little blue book that it was supposed to be handwritten in. I wanted it neatly typed though... handwriting just wouldn't do for me. I put a good ten hours of research into it and spent a few hours writing it.
My essay didn't come back though. My caseworker at careerlink sent it to whoever they go to and they kept it. *shrug*
